Japanese homes and entrance gates are decorated with ornaments made of pine, bamboo and plum trees known as Kadomatsu. The decorations signify prayers for a good harvest and blessings for the New Year. They are also a form of ancestral worship, since it welcomes the Ancestral Spirits and Kami into the home.
